Brigette Labastida-Reyes is a Latina born and raised in Dallas, Texas where she is currently working for a small tech firm and as a local artist. She attended The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her degree in Corporate Communications and a minor in Business Administration. Having left Dallas for a few years to attend college and later work, she moved back home in 2019, and has now dedicated herself in making her hometown a more beautiful place. Her love for the arts was present all her life, but this year, 2020, was her big breakthrough: completing her largest mural yet, right in the heart of Bishop Arts. Being a daughter of two immigrant parents has shaped who she is and her art in many ways — she takes pride in representing her Mexican culture through her paint strokes.
As a strong advocate for mental health, she has come to adopt the phrase, “haz todo con amor; do everything with love,” something that has gotten her through tough moments in life and hopes to reflect that in her work. She is currently working on more murals that will be featured on her art Instagram page in the upcoming weeks.
